Tuition Payment and Refund Policy

The Workshop requires a non-refundable deposit for each class upon registration (usually one half, but not less than $150), and payment in full is due not less than 30 days before the first class. Refunds will be issued only if the canceling student’s slot is filled. In the event that a student is required to miss a class due to illness, a family or business emergency or the like, it may be possible to schedule a make-up session, depending upon the student’s and the instructor’s schedules. This is at the discretion of the Workshop. Credit cards are now accepted by telephone.

In the event that a course is canceled by the Workshop, a refund of any paid deposit will immediately be issued.

Safety Policies of the Studio

The safety of all participants is the primary consideration of the Studio. All students will be required to follow the instructor’s directions at all times. Any student who works in an unsafe manner or fails to follow an instructor’s direction may be asked to leave the Studio immediately. Under this circumstance, a tuition refund is solely at the discretion of the Studio.

Woodworking is an inherently dangerous process. Each student will be given a form of General Release of Liability upon initial registration and will be required to promptly sign and return it to the Studio, a standard practice of all craft schools. A sample of this Release available for examination upon request.

No one under 18 will be permitted in the Workshop at any time due to insurance requirements.

Storage of Ongoing Project Materials

Solely on a “space available” basis, project materials may be stored at the Workshop during the term of the course only. The Workshop accepts no responsibility for theft or damage of a student’s materials, hardware, tools or other property stored at the Workshop.

Tools, Handtools

The Workshop is well equipped with power tools and the safe use of these tools by the students is permitted. Each student is expected to have his or her own handtools, such as measuring and marking devices, chisels, planes, hand saws, etc. The Workshop has a complete sharpening center, generously supported by Norton Abrasives, and careful student use is permitted. The Workshop has a limited number of handtools available for student use. A detailed list of handtools for each course is available upon request.

The Workshop will supply consumables as part of the tuition, to include adhesives, abrasives, etc.

Each student is required to bring his or her own hearing protection and eye protection, and dust protection, if desired.
