I work with Alan and know he's a real stickler for careful preparation and pin-point accuracy. In the article, he points out that measuring and marking are essential to the success of any woodworking project.

The article organizes layout and marking tools in 3 categories (subsets); then goes into some uncommon, but very useful tips and tricks that will improve your accuracy, reduce working time, and increase your enjoyment of woodworking. There's some real good information in the article, garnered by time well spent in the workshop building furniture.
