Making bandsawn boxes is especially satisfying and slightly addictive. Using only the bandsaw and a few basic hand tools, our bandsawn box class successfully takes students from a raw piece of wood to a completed box in a short amount of time. For beginners, this is an excellent opportunity to gain some familiarity with woodworking while making a wonderful handmade box. For more seasoned woodworkers, it’s a chance to learn some new skills while exploring design possibilities on a small, manageable project.

Using a narrow blade, the bandsaw is set to cut the various box pieces at an angle, creating perfectly fitting, tapered parts rather than having the saw blade kerf outlining each cut. The result is a tight, professional-looking box that makes a wonderful gift and looks great sitting on a sideboard or dresser.

The class is appropriate for everyone. Each student will complete a bandsawn box. No tools are required for the class and there will be plenty of design ideas to get folk’s creative mojo going. Boxes can be finished with shellac or milk paint.
